Fashion has always been at the absolute heart of Manchester’s queer identity, and this September, the runway is opening its doors to all of us. Manchester Fashion Week is officially shaking up the traditional, elitist fashion calendar from 9th – 12th September 2026, bringing a radically inclusive, four-day celebration of sustainable style, activism, and community to iconic venues across the city.

Forget ultra-exclusive, closed-door front rows: this homegrown event is built around public access and real, ethics-first change. Every single collection hitting the schedule meets a strict new minimum materials standard with zero fur, wild animal skins, or feathers allowed. Legendary designer and slogan-tee pioneer Katharine Hamnett opens the public programme on Wednesday evening alongside PR powerhouse Lynne Franks OBE and fashion journalist Sophie Benson. Beyond the big names, the runway will shine a huge spotlight on incredible local talent like J.O. Studio, Isabelle Pennington-Edmead, and Drew Kent, alongside inspiring showcases from young designers at Empower Youth Zones.

Whether you’re looking to refresh your autumn wardrobe or dive deep into conscious style, the city-wide lineup is packed with ways to get involved. Head over to Castlefield Gallery to explore Interwoven: Threads & Futures Connected, a free exhibition exploring the human stories behind our clothes. Looking to trade your look without harming the planet? Hit up The Susty Club pop-up shop to discover ethical independent labels, or bring your pre-loved gems to The Big Swap to hunt for new treasures.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Manchester celebration without a chance to let your hair down after dark. Once the talks wrap up, trade the runway for the dance floor at the official nightly afterparties taking over Side Street, CUPRA Garage, and The Green, St. Johns.

It’s time to show the rest of the world how our city does style: creative, conscious, and fiercely welcoming. Grab your crew, check out the full schedule, and book your tickets now at fashionweekmanchester.co.uk.
