Awkward Productions’s Fit Prince at Hope Mill Theatre is the kind of show that knows exactly what it is and fully commits to the chaos. Funny, inventive and gloriously silly throughout, it turns the theatre into one big shared experience from the moment it begins.
The production thrives on audience participation, but never in a way that feels awkward or uncomfortable. Instead, it creates an atmosphere where everyone feels part of the joke, with the cast bouncing brilliantly off the crowd and keeping the energy high throughout. There’s a looseness to it that works in the show’s favour, making every performance feel like its own unique event.
What really gives Fit Prince its charm though is the warmth underneath all the madness. Beneath the camp humour and absurd comedy is a genuinely inclusive production that celebrates individuality without ever becoming preachy. It’s playful, welcoming and completely unafraid to be itself, which makes it incredibly easy to get swept along with.
The intimate space at Hope Mill Theatre suits the production perfectly too, helping every joke land and making the audience feel fully involved in the experience. By the end, the whole room feels connected through the sheer ridiculous joy of it all.
