Torremolinos is a municipality in Andalusia, was originally a poor fishing village before the growth in tourism began in the late 1950s, Torremolinos was the first of the Costa del Sol resorts to be developed and is still the most popular in the region.
It is particularly popular with British, Irish and Scandinavian tourists and has a large British expatriate population.
The beach which extends for nearly 8 kilometres, has cycle and skating lanes alongside the fully illuminated promenade and features many chiringuitos and beach bars. The eastern end of the beach, known as Los Alamos, has live dance music events throughout the summer. The easternmost parts of the beach have kite surfing and windsurfing except under the flight path of the airport.

In addition to its tourism sector, Torremolinos is known locally for its vibrant and liberal nightlife, particularly its numerous bars and clubs catering to the LGBT community.[2] Torremolinos co-hosted World Pride in 2017 in conjunction with Madrid and holds its own Pride in June, now the third largest in Spain.

In addition Torremolinos hosts MadBear which caters to bears, Delice Dream, Wonder Beach and many others LGTB festivals during the summer, including their own pride event in June.

Their are two main beach area’s that cater for the LGBT market.
The oldest and most established is Poseidon beach next to the tourist info centre.Long time British owned and operated, it caters for a very diverse clientele and easily accommodates an open minded straight customer base alongside its loyal gay market.

If you like your beach bathing packed with body beautifuls with loud pulsating music, then this is probably NOT for you. Always friendly and welcoming and a lovely spot to enjoy cocktails with a sea view or/and a light lunch of fresh sardines.

Further up the beach, is Eden which was opened just a few years ago and definitely strikes a contrast to Poseidon with it’s younger crowd and live dj’s inc Du Jour.
Busy and bustling at all times, it hosts several of the big annual parties connected to the gay community.
Away from the beach, Torremolinos has many other attractions for the LGBT community.
The majority of bars are in the famous Nogalera area in the main town (up the main stairs or lift from beach front) and there is quite a variety.

Visit Gill and David at Boomerang in Pueblo Blanco, just on edge of Nogalera, to enjoy this super friendly bar with its open air seating and trickling fountain.

Surrounded by restaurants, Boomerang is the ideal location to people watch and approaching it’s 15th year, has added something really different and special to the resort especially for women.

Adjacent too is Renes Bar which offers a later night, intimate bar with light jazz/RnB music and great cocktails/spirits.Rene is always in attendance to welcome and serve.

El Gato Lounge nestled close by , is a perfect place to enjoy a post beach cocktail or maybe have an early supper with a selection of Tapas dishes to choose from.
Very popular with the young lgbt and their straight allies.
Then onto the Nogalera next door with its packed, bustling feel almost every night from 11ish pm.

Vanilla Bar is a lovely, popular spot for Coffee, breakfast or light lunch choices. Hosts Jamie and Carlos are on hand with their excellent team.

Their new venue Zoo is due to open shortly. Watch this space.

Mens Bar caters for, well, men. formally British owned with large music screens and DJ’s most nights.A lower area caters for ‘other activity’.

The newly opened Eagle Bar has a lovely outside terrace and hosts several events catering for the leather and fetish scene.Again, friendly and welcoming.

The newly opened Bears Bar is a perfect complement to Eagle and the corner is always buzzing.
Parthenon next door is more clublike, with live spanish drag performance if that is your bag, and tends to be one of the latest to remain open.
Aqua, Eden and others are very large open venues that are packed with the young and the beautiful (in their eyes at least) depending on your taste of course.
Torremolinos offers many smaller bars with rainbow flags for easy indentification, on the periphery with friendly operators and their own regular clientele.

There are also many places to eat, with El Bodegon de Fabrice has found it’s new home and is  top of the list with it’s strong family heritage, french based cooking and friendly service at all times.Always ask patron Fabrice for recommendations of variations from the extensive menu. Now firmly established in a new location adjacent to the Leonardo’s ( formally the Cervantes) Hotel.

Most of the above offer special discount for holders of our CANAL ST CARD.

All and all, Torremolinos offers an increasingly popular alternative to other more famous resorts, who are becoming expensive and varied in service levels.
Hotel Krystal is not a gay hotel, but encourages the LGBT community at all times and the team there are very friendly and helpful.24 hour reception is a boon too.
Cozyinns hotel is relatively new and caters well for the bear community and is situated inbetween the beach front and top town/Nogelera.
There is plenty of retail to enjoy, with a plethora of small specialised shops peppered around the Nogelera.Boxer is the finest of these.

Other useful information;
Most budget carriers travel daily from Manchester and as you know, it is all about timings, price and avavilability.
Taxis or the train are easy to get at the airport and both will see you in town centre within 15 mins.
Spanish and English are mainly spoken right across the resort.

There are two separate beach lifts, a wheelchair accessible footpath and steps from the town centre to the beach.
Though there are many parking spaces on the beach road, it is almost impossible to park in the summer months. The town centre does have many underground car parks however.
