Tucked away in the Ancoats neighbourhood, Cocoa Cabana transforms from a cozy coffee haven by day into a buzzing Spanish tapas bar called Can Petit at night. Two talented chefs from Spain are behind this culinary adventure, and trust me, it’s a must-try.
When you walk in, the bustling atmosphere wraps around you like a loving hug. Laughter and talk flood the air, fostering an immediate sense of community among fellow diners. The contemporary décor, with its basic lighting and fascinating artwork, sets the tone for an unforgettable evening. The big bar, with its combination of high-top tables and comfortable low seats, invites you to relax and unwind.
We started with their £5 tapas selection, which was a terrific way to sample nearly everything. The patatas bravas were incredible, wonderfully crispy on the exterior and fluffy on the inside, and coated in a spicy sauce with just the right kick. The Padrón peppers were a pleasant surprise, with some mild and some spicy, and the fried squid was so soft that it virtually melted in your mouth.
Of course, we could not stop there. The Ibérico ham was really wonderful, and the chorizo was brimming with flavour. The pork sliders with pickled piparra peppers, however, were the true highlight of the meal. Juicy pork, zesty peppers, and a soft bread were a perfect combination.
We finished the dinner with a platter of beef meatballs in red wine sauce, which were just amazing. These meatballs were incredibly tender and tasty, floating in a creamy, cosy sauce. I definitely recommend matching these with a glass of their house wine, which was an excellent accompaniment.
The staff was really attentive and pleasant, constantly ensuring that our glasses were full and we had everything we needed.They truly enhanced the overall experience.
Can Petit is a total must-visit for anybody looking for authentic Spanish tapas without having to travel. It’s reasonable, the food is delicious, and the environment is ideal. Every meal is prepared with such much love and attention that you can taste the difference. Whether you’re a tapas fan or just looking for a fun night out, Can Petit is a hidden treasure you won’t want to miss.
