The Blackfriar
On a rainly, blowy night in Manchester we decided to re-visit the much lauded BLACKFRIAR in Salford for our supper.
Previous visits have always been a success and we agreed to choose some different dishes on this occasion.
As we checked in upon arrival, we were informed that despite a tech issue, details had been saved and the two of us were quickly escorted to a waiting table by a very chatty, friendly host.
Our server for the evening then took over and once settled our chosen Pinot Noir and Rioja Rose promtly arrived.
Spiced Lamb Meatballs with minted yoghurt, pomegranate + almonds for starter contained high quality meat, spices and were cooked to perfection. Only one starter as desserts looked too inviting.
Cumbrian Lamb Rump charred hispi cabbage, anchovies + parmesan was the hit of the night with perfectly cooked Pink Lamb served in a mouth watering jus.
The Blackfriars Burger with sweet cure bacon, Mrs Kirkham’s cheddar, apple + wholegrain slaw, sesame brioche + fries was the second chosen main and none was to be found on an empty plate.
Then to those desserts.
We found the Eton Mess too tempting and we both enjoyed it , although we weren't too sure about the Gelatin drizzle across the Meringue.
More wine was consumed and would you believe the couple at the adjacent table were also Canal St Card holders (15% off the bill for tables upto 4 people) and they helped us to share a hugely successful evening. We were all the last to leave.Umbrellas firmly in hand.
Bravo too for the excellent and friendly service throughout.
We all agreed to re-visit at some point in the future.
Congratulations too on celebrating the venues second anniversary.
