A new Indian Bar and Restaurant on our doorstep

A new Indian Bar and Restaurant on our doorstep

October 2023

Sthan M1 is a recent addition to restaurants bordering The Village, located at 50 Princess Street. It’s been open for a while but had its formal very successful opening night a month or so ago. It’s open from noon every day, and those with long memories might remember a restaurant called The Raj at the same location. It’s well worth crossing the street for their desi food and videsi drinks.

The place has been completely revamped to a very high standard with an enormous dining area that has recessed booths as well as more traditional tables, and there’s a separate bar which is great to sit at. Reviews have been universally very positive.

The menu doesn’t overwhelm but manages to cater for all tastes. The portions are good, and the prices are reasonable – and that’s before a 20% discount to Canal Street cardholders. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and some of the faces were familiar as the owners have another restaurant (The Ziya Asian Grill in Wilmslow Road), so they were off to a flying start with this new venture. It will do well.
