• Funeral plans are not exclusively for people over Fifty! Please know that to purchase a policy you must be over eighteen. However, you can take out a plan for a partner, loved one, friend or child who can be any age! Our youngest client is two years old and is totally unaware that the policy is in place! Great foresight of his parents!

• If you have savings set aside for your funeral – this is obviously a positive step, however as the money is not exclusively for a funeral, the money may be needed and used elsewhere. For example, a boiler breaking down or an unexpected repair bill can instantly remove the security of savings. Furthermore, with interest rates pitifully low and funeral prices increasing on average by 8% per year, the balance may not cover your needs when the time comes. Perhaps you could consider using some of your savings as a deposit for a funeral plan?

• You feel this is something for the future – accidental death can happen any time. You may not be expecting to pass away right now, but would it be reassuring to know that your wishes were agreed, and the funeral was paid for long before you need it? Once you have chosen your plan and paid a deposit, you can take up to fifteen years to clear the remaining balance. Making the payments affordable and manageable to clear before you choose to stop working.
