VADA - DRAMA WORKSHOPS

Vada LGBTQI Community Theatre Company will be running four fabulous free drama workshops to be held at Chorlton Library meeting room, Manchester Rd, M21 9PN.  All the workshops start at 7.15pm and will last about two hours.

Monday 29th October: “Experts – you are the expert of your own life” led by James Monaghan of Sheep Knuckle, a company who perform innovative theatre.

James has run many interactive workshops and intends to make the activity responsive to whoever attends- he writes: ''This workshop explores making performance from the self. Creating performative frames, tools and structures to allow genuine exchanges to occur between performer and audience. We’ve been telling stories forever, we're actually very good at it. Why stop now? ''

Thursday 8th November: “Viddy Vada” will be run by Mark Hill, community artist and erstwhile pioneering VADA performer, director and workshop leader. We will explore how to make creative videos on your phone - creating visuals from everyday things, green screen techniques, devised drama and everything in between!

Thursday 15th November: “Devising – Making from Scratch” run by Ali Wilson who specialises in devised work and is a finalist for Young Creative of the Year Award for her role in producing 'Temporary Movement, Permanent Protest!' which celebrated 30years since the iconic Section 28 march.

Tuesday 4th December: “Playing with the Past” will be a wonderful writing workshop led by Stephen M Hornby, multi-award winning playwright and artistic director of Inkbrew Productions. As National Playwright in Residence to LGBT History month and under commission to several museums, his workshop will explore how to write from the archive.

The workshops will be inclusive, friendly, welcoming, and most of all fun. Here is your chance to try and/or develop performance, writing and backstage skills in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Newcomers and old hands are ALL WELCOME!
