The unseen community

The unseen community

This photographic exhibition explores the dark of discrimination, faced by the LGBT+ parent/carer community, and the light of family life

This insightful exhibition at People’s History Museum Manchester, has been created by Proud 2 b Parents, through their work with LGBT+ parents/carers and their children

Proud 2 b Parents wanted to capture real family life from the LGBT+ parent/carer community and bring awareness of their lives and the ‘normality’ of everyday life.

Therefore raising awareness and understanding, whilst challenging assumptions is vital for these ‘unseen communities’.

The images for this exhibition have been captured by artist Allie Crewe, whose portraits have met with critical acclaim.  Described as ‘Highly rated, sincere, poignant and classical’ by Magnum, and as producing ‘a terrific body of work filled with heart and empathy’ by Lens Culture, Allie’s work was shortlisted for the prestigious Portrait of Britain award in 2017 which she won in 2019.

The exhibit runs From Saturday 24 July 2021 to Wednesday 1 September 2021
