Stockport Pride Returns With Help From Local Circular Economy Pioneer

It will be the first in-person LGBTQ+ event in Stockport Market Place since 2019. It is set to include entertainment, stalls, and a parade through the town centre.

This year's festivities are being held with generous help from Stockport-based company musicMagpie.

musicMagpie is at the forefront of the circular economy revolution , allowing customers to both sell to and buy or rent from a service that is smart for them, and smart for the planet. They refurbish unwanted tech and media items before reselling them for the next person to use.

musicMagpie is the sponsor of this year's Martyn Hett Stage. With a day full of singers, bands, drag queens and dancers - the stage is named in honour of a member of the local community who passed away in the Manchester Arena attack.

The Chairperson of Stockport Pride's organising committee, Stephen Bowyer, said "The support of musicMagpie has been invaluable to help us bring Stockport Pride back to the town centre. It shows their strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion."

Sam Vesey, Chief Sustainability Officer at musicMagpie, said "We're thrilled to be able to support Stockport Pride this year and look forward to being able to celebrate the local LGBTQ+ community on what’s set to be a brilliant day for all."

Organisations supporting this year's festival include musicMagpie, Sky, Stockport Homes, Adoption Counts, The Ted Darling Crime Novels, Mosscare St Vincent’s Housing Group, Sector3, Lynx Taxis, Totally Stockport and The National Lottery Community Fund.

Amongst those sponsoring this year's event are Sector3. They are the charity infrastructure support network for voluntary, community and faith-based groups, social enterprises and charitable organisations in Stockport.

Stockport Pride will be free and open for all to attend in Stockport Marketplace from 11am until 6pm on Sunday 31st July, with plenty going on for the whole family.
