Still Doing It! - Faye Tozer and Manchester Camerata

CDC Events and Manchester Camerata will be presenting a one night only classical spectacular of the infamous Queer as Folk soundtrack at Manchester’s Albert Hall.

The “Still Doin It Live” show will see performances of the greatest anthems from Queer as Folk by  Manchester Camerata’s 28 piece orchestra, guest artists including Faye Tozer from STEPS and original soundtrack artist, Hannah Jones.

Queer as Folk was written by Russell T Davies and documented the lives and loves of three young gay men, Stuart, Vince and Nathan, all set around Manchester’s Gay Village.  It received international acclaim at the time and a cult status around its epic soundtrack, which included smash hits such as      “I Am What I Am,” “Haven’t You Heard,” “Love Pains” and “Santa Maria” which filled dancefloors around the world.

The live show will be produced by TV, music and theatre writer Rob Ellis, who’s critically acclaimed comedy stage play “Fetish Knights” enjoyed sell-out runs in two consecutive years at The Lowry, Salford.

Rob said of “Still Doin’ It Live”: “As Russel T Davies’ ground-breaking and iconic show Queer As Folk marks its 20th anniversary - it’s an honour to be producing the ultimate birthday party alongside Manchester Camerata, a superb team and a glittering list of guest star performers. As with the tv show; audiences should expect shocks and surprises in abundance!”

Carl Darcy, director of CDC Events and co-executive producer said: “I’m absolutely delighted to bring the music of Queer as Folk to the stage.

We’ll be holding the performance on the 20th anniversary of the show and it will be a real music spectacle from both guest artists and some set performances from the incredible Manchester Camerata.”

Mark Geary, co-executive producer added: “We’ve got some fantastic people on board for the show, from the award winning Rob Ellis, original soundtrack artists like Hannah Jones and we are thrilled that Faye Tozer has joined our ever growing line up.  For anyone who loved Queer as Folk, it’s going to be a great night and a fitting celebration for the 20 year anniversary of the show.”

Manchester Camerata, quoted by The Times as “Probably Britain’s  most adventurous orchestra” where ‘Glastonbury Openers’ in 2017 and are behind the popular sell out shows “Hacienda Classical” and most recently “Disco Classical”.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday 31st August for the event, with the show performance on Friday 22nd February 2019, at the Manchester Albert Hall.
