Outstageus returns for 2022
Hive North return with OutStageUs, their annual LGBTQ+ new writing event. They are currently seeking submissions for the event, to present on stage at The Lowry.
Hive North are looking for scripts that explore LGBTQ+ themes written by LGBTQ+ people. They are particularly interested in scripts from Global Majority writers and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds to promote their ethos of celebrating and championing diversity.
They want scripts that entertain audiences but also challenge them. They want to see work that explores themes from across the LGBTQ+ community, stories that are fresh and new and don't get much airtime.
Scripts can be up to 12 minutes, and feature up to 4 characters. Up to 10 scripts will be selected and the writers will be offered a tailored development programme to get their script ready for stage. Successful writers will be paid a fee of £350.
Adam Zane, Hive North's Artistic Director commented on OutStageUs,
"We're thrilled to be bringing OutStageUs back to audiences in Greater Manchester. The event, and the proceeding writing programme give us the opportunity to champion such a range of voices from across out community.
Last year's event was our most diverse and exciting in the projects history, and we're just so grateful that Arts Council England are continuing to support this vital work." He concluded.
