January – April 2024

Save the date for a celebration of houseplants at the RHS Bridgewater Houseplant Weekend (Sat 27 - Sun 28 Jan)

Get your garden ready for springtime at the Cyclamen Society Spring Show (Sat 23 Mar), Spring Plant Fair (Sat 6 – Sun 7 Apr) and the British Iris Society Late Spring Show (Sat 27 Apr)

The Houseplant Weekend returns to RHS Garden Bridgewater on 27-28 January, packed full of indoor gardening inspiration. Enjoy expert talks and panel discussions, from Cloud Gardener Jason Williams, the British Cactus and Succulent Society and more, along with drop-in plant advice clinics and demonstrations from the RHS Bridgewater team. Round off your day with a spot of houseplant shopping in the garden centre.

On 23 March, discover a colourful display of most of the spring flowering cyclamen species at the Cyclamen Society Spring Show. There will be plants and seeds for sale so you can pick up your own cyclamen to take home, and Cyclamen Society experts will be on hand to offer free advice about these delicate plants and how to grow them from seed.

Get your garden ready for spring at the Spring Plant Fair, 6-7 April, in partnership with Plant Heritage North West. Get inspiration and advice from a great selection of specialist northern nurseries, who will be selling a range of beautiful and unusual spring plants. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of talks and demonstrations to help set you and your garden up for the season ahead, and children will love the Spring Plant Fair Trail, where they can explore the nurseries, learn about plants and win a prize to get them growing at home.

The beauty of irises will be on full display on 27 April as the British Iris Society Late Spring Show comes to Bridgewater. Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists, Sheryl Pape will be ‘Artist in Residence’ at the show and talented artist and flower arranger Fern Harden will present a flower arranging demonstration. Specialist nursery The Manic Botanic and members of the society will be on hand with expert advice and information.

All events are free with garden admission. Book garden tickets

Garden lovers who’d like to grow their knowledge and skills can also take part in a range of weekend courses and workshops this season. From growing herbs to understanding plant health and gardening for wildlife, visit rhs.org.uk/bridgewaterwhatson to find the latest information.
