The Lucia books are a classic series of six camp novels written by E.F. Benson between 1920 and 1939.
They depict the struggle for social supremacy of the ladies of the cultured and refined village of Riseholme and the ancient and enlightened town of Tilling - primarily featuring the indefatigable Mrs Emmeline “Lucia” Lucas and the ruthless Miss Mapp. There a plenty of LGBT characters too - primarily Georgie Pillson, his sisters and the painter, Quaint Irene Coles. I’m reading them chapter by chapter as ideal light entertainment for the Covid lock down. Pour some nice tea, butter a toasted teacake and enjoy!
And for lovers of wine...
Richard Smith invites you this weekend for his latest Cheshire Winecast - whilst we're all in lockdown enjoy an hour or so with some fantastic fizz and great company.
This Easter weekend it's all about the bubbles with different great value styles of sparkling wine and some fun fizz facts too.
There are only have 10 spaces left so click here to reserve yours via https://cheshire.wine/product/winecast110420/?goal=0_c3af4fc71c-66a71f43fc-334568777&mc_cid=66a71f43fc&mc_eid=bcd2d96bef
