“Game-changing” service will be available in Merseyside, Cheshire and Manchester and may help many take their first important step in their social transition.

Cheshire and Merseyside Adult Gender Identity Collaborative (CMAGIC) has joined forces with MSB Solicitors to deliver a free name change service for members of the Trans, Non-Binary and Intersex community.

Many Trans, Non-Binary and Intersex people permanently change their name on their official documents to one that matches their gender identity and it is often a first step in their social transition.

Although the process is free, individuals often require help to complete the forms and turn to unscrupulous online companies that charge high prices to complete the forms. In many cases the documents are not accepted, meaning both the name change cannot be progressed and people lose the money they have spent.

Trans, Non-Binary and Intersex people over the age of 18 from Merseyside, Cheshire and Manchester will be able to use the free service, which is delivered by MSB solicitors and CMAGIC.

To complete the name change, individuals will need to provide:

● Passport

● Proof of address (driving licence or a utility bill)

● One month’s bank statement(s)

The service will be offered free of charge on the first Wednesday of every month, from MSB Solicitors offices in Liverpool, Widnes and Manchester. Those wishing to use the service will need to book an appointment in advance.

Speaking of the new service, Anthony Griffin, Chair of CMAGIC, said: “This is a vital service that will prevent so many people from the Trans, Non-Binary and Intersex community needlessly spending lots of money on online services. For many it will also be game-changing as it will be an important first step in their social transition.

“MSB Solicitors is the only law firm that has gained the Navajo Merseyside & Cheshire LGBTIQA Chartermark and it has supported the work we do at CMAGIC in so many ways. We are indebted to MSB’s managing director Emma Carey for supporting our latest endeavour, and Michael Boland and Poppy Hind who will be delivering this service.”

Next sessions will take place on 1st June 2022, 6th July 2022, 3rd August 2022 and 7th September 2022. For more information or to book an appointment, please call MSB Solicitors Ltd on 0151 281 9040 and ask for Michael Boland or Poppy Hind.
