Partnered dancing has long been fixed into rigid roles, but Queer Bachata Manchester has been breaking the norm since 2017.
Every Monday night, they meet at Terrace NQ on Thomas Street for free Bachata sessions. Anyone can lead, anyone can follow, and no partner or dance experience is needed.
Every three months, the regular class becomes “A Moment in Dance” (AMiD), a charity evening originally created for LGBTQIA+ people a welcoming space to simply connect and feel safe.
The next AMiD takes place on Monday, 23 November. Entry and tuition remain completely free and all of the proceeds from their charity raffle go directly to Trans Mutual Aid Manchester.
Schedule for Monday, 23 November at Terrace NQ:
- 8:00 pm – 8:30 pm: Free Bachata crash course (absolute beginners welcome)
- 8:30 pm – 10:30 pm: Dance social & mingling
- 9:30 pm: Charity raffle draw
