The Manchester Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence throw a triple-header of a party this August — a film premiere, a 30th birthday, and a bar full of frolics
MANCHESTER, UK — Mark your calendars, light a candle (a nice scented one, nothing tacky), and prepare your best “I was there” face, because August is about to get very, very holy.
The Manchester Sisters are pulling out all the stops this month with not one, not two, but three reasons to put on your good frock. Leading the charge: the acclaimed documentary Hunky Jesus is bringing its habit-wearing, glitter-flecked pilgrimage to Manchester for its grand city premiere at the Scene LGBTQ+ Film and TV Festival.
The screening takes place at HOME Manchester on Thursday 27th August at 6pm, introduced by none other than the fabulous Sister BangBang herself — because if anyone’s qualified to set the scene for a film about a hunky messiah, it’s a Sister.
Once the credits roll, the congregation isn’t dismissed just yet: Sister BangBang and Sister Judy will host a live Q&A, taking questions from the pews (or, well, cinema seats) on all things Hunky Jesus.
And because the Sisters never do anything by halves, the whole Manchester House will be turning out in full regalia to mark a genuinely massive milestone: the 30th anniversary of the Manchester House. Three decades of habits, hijinks, and doing good in ridiculous outfits — that deserves a proper send-off.
In the spirit of that good work, Hugs will be on sale on the night, with proceeds going to George House Trust (GHT) — so you can get a squeeze from a Sister and support a brilliant cause in one go.
And once the lights come up and the Q&A wraps? Word has it there may be frolics in the HOME bar area well into the evening. You didn’t hear that from us. You heard it from us.
