Exceptional lunch at Pesky, the pop up restaurant in the new Deansgate Sq. They are there for 4 weeks only until late March, then possibly a more permanent home in Ancoats.

Beautiful decor, very cool muted colours, flooded with light and stylish furnishing.

A real treat of a place. Playlist was an awesome mixture of music styles, perfect volume, not intrusive.

Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful explaining the menu.

There is a fish/seafood section and a non meat section. These are all small plates. Small, but perfectly formed. Every mouthful delicious, presentation delightful.

We had pretty much most things on the whole menu apart from 2 items and the 2  desserts, all of which sound so wonderful we booked to go again next Saturday.

A highlight for us were the oysters with pickled radish and herb oil, and the calamari and fish dishes, home made tartare and chimichurri were off the scale good.

A NZ Sauvignon was lovely and grassy and perfect with the dishes. Definitely trying the imaginative sounding cocktails next time.

We had

Oysters with pickled rhubarb and herb oil ( one ‘drunken’ with a vodka shot which was a perfect combo )

Hake with chimichurri

Cod cheeks with a crunchy coating

Potatoes with a spicy sauce ( patatas bravas style )

Calamari with chermoula butter

Fennel salad with grapefruit

Corn ribs

Can’t recommend highly enough. One of the best lunches in a long time. Check them out on Instagram. Zaide O’Rourke has done an astounding job in creating this place.
