We are sad to announce that a recent gay Village favourite No 1 Canal St has closed permanently.
Couple Lisa Kettle and Danielle Condron have run The Bridge Pub and Dining in Sale since 2016 with a second restaurant venture, No 1 Canal Street, opening in 2017. The Gay Village venue was named the best restaurant in Manchester at 2019’s British Restaurant Awards.
Lisa and Danielle have announced that they have had to make the ‘very hard decision during these difficult times’ to close both venues.
The pair went on to say: “It is with great sadness we have have had to close both The Bridge & No 1 today. We would like to thank you all for your amazing support over the last 6 years.
“This has been a very hard decision during these difficult times. We’d like to express our heartfelt thanks to our amazing customers, and the team that has made everything possible.”
This decision has surprised many regular village users and the couple have recieved many messages of support from customers and other venue operators.
