Village Angels return
The Lesbian & Gay Foundation are pleased to announce that the Village Angels are back.
The Village Angels is The Lesbian & Gay Foundation’s innovative community safety scheme which sees ‘Angels’ take to Manchester’s Gay Village, providing information and advice to revellers, easily recognisable through their pink ‘high-vis’ vests, late at night and early in the mornings at weekends and other big events throughout the year.
The Village Angels scheme began in 2012 and the team have helped over 13,000 people in a variety of ways, which has included providing local information, signposting to everything from bars and clubs to support services, supporting victims of crime and helping vulnerable people.
The ‘Angels’ are a team of staff and volunteers from The Lesbian & Gay Foundation who have already donated over 1,000 hours of their time to help people. The Village Angels have also worked closely with Greater Manchester Police, CityCo, The Village Business Association, as well as security companies, venue owners and other key partners in order to ensure that people have the best time they can in Manchester’s Gay Village.
