Twitter Meet for June

"Tweeters? Twits? Twitter peeps? What do you call those people locked in your phone that you routinely exchange 140 characters with? How about thinking of them as potential new friends in the real world, as well as in the virtual world of social media?

Matt, Dale and Craig met over pizza and a beer after chatting away on Twitter. They got on so well that they can now regularly be found putting the world to rights around Manchester. Encouraged by the power of social media to bring people together, they decided to invite others do the same.

"It's often said that Twitter is full of people you like but don't know. TweetMeet Manchester is a chance for followers to get out from behind their phones, have a laugh, have a drink, and hopefully make some new friends" says Matt, who designed the www.tweetmeetmanchester.co.uk website and has been organising the meet-up on June 28th.

"We want to encourage as many people to come along as we can. It's going to be a really relaxed and friendly day, with no agenda other than to meet new people" says Dale, who has been helping with the @TweetMeetMcr Twitter account.

The first Tweet Meet Manchester is on Saturday, June 28th and begins at 2pm at Taurus, 1 Canal Street. All the details are at www.tweetmeetmanchester.co.uk, and there are regular updates via @TweetMeetMcr.
