The Goose re opens
A phoenix rises from the ashes [well, a goose actually!]
Review by James Cunningham
Paddy’s Goose in the Gay Village has been around for decades.. and to be honest it had been decades since it had had so much as a lick of paint.
Enter 2014 and some new tenants who, along with owners Punch Taverns, have spent £200k on re-fitting this old bird. £200k in this small pub is a sizeable investment indeed!
We went along to the re-launch last Thursday to sample what it was all about.. and we left impressed. Every element of this pub has been looked at, from a glorious bar to the gorgeous tiling, to the re-framed pictures that used to adorn the walls of Paddy’s.
Now named ‘The Goose’ the new owners are clearly wanting to make an impression and have created a real heart=warming, local, traditional pub in the Gay Village in heart of the city centre.
A new food offering launches 5th September packed full of traditional classic as you’d expect of this new look.
On the night some village icons were there, notably Misty Chance who gave it her thumbs up!
We certainly hope the village regulars give it a try and heartily recommend you do to if you are looking for something a bit more traditional in this fabulous city of ours that never sleeps!
