EAST LANCASHIRE' FIRST LGBT PRIDE TO TAKE PLACE

May Bank Holiday Weekend

Burnley Pride event will go ahead this May Bank Holiday Weekend in Burnley Town centre, with a 2 day community expo event at Burnley Library with Pride Parties taking place at Smackwater Jacks over the weekend.

On Friday 27th May at 10:00am Burnley Pride will officially start with a two day Community Expo event at Burnley Library till 4:00pm, within the Friday evening a Pride Launch Party will take place at Smackwater Jacks from 9:00pm. On Sunday 29th the pride event will come to a end at Smackwater Jacks from 9:00pm with the closing party. All events over the weekend are free to attend and for the pride parties at Smackwater Jacks attendees will have to be 18 years or older.

Organisers East Lancashire LGBT is a group that currently meets in Burnley Library once a month and in Colne once a month for social gatherings, the group recently started an LGBT Night at Smackwater Jacks in Burnley. Simon Clark chairman of the group said “ An LGBT community Group has been missing from the East Lancashire area for so long, Speaking about Burnley Pride Simon said “we have other pride events in UK so why not Burnley, we are calling on the East Lancashire Community to come out and support us and let's bring new and exciting things to Burnley”.
