Update Man arrested.
Police investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a canal in Manchester city centre have made an arrest.
Shortly before 1.50pm on Saturday 9 June 2012, police were called to Canal Street following reports a body of a man had been found.
A post-mortem examination has taken place and the cause of death is confirmed as drowning. The Home Office pathologist who examined the man also reported that he had no injuries.
The man has been identified as 40-year-old Simon Brass, who lived in the Salford area.
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
Inquiries are ongoing.
Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson said: "As a result of information received from the community, we have made this arrest. However, we are still eager to talk to anyone who may have information as to what lead up to the discovery of the man's body."
