Grill on New York St new Menu

Thursday evening in Manchester is always a good night to go out for dinner.

It is close enough to feel like the weekend and isn’t too busy so you feel crowded by adjacent tables and their noisy diners.

This was indeed the case at Grill on New York St recently. Following an aperitif at the bar area, my dining companion and myself were escorted to our table where we were introduced to Manager Warren who advised us that our server Martin would join us shortly.

The new menu has retained many of the fine steak dishes synonymous with the Blackhouse brand. However, several new lighter dishes have been added which cater for the more health conscious and those with vegan and vegetarian requirements. We decided to plump for a small selection of dishes from the Nibble and Starter Menu including Beer Batter Cumbrae Oysters, Miso Honey Chipolatas, Goan Chicken skewers and smoked haddock fishcakes. All were shared and delicious and we couldn't agree between us which was the tastiest.

Considering the above comment regarding the strong reputation for beautifully cooked steaks, we both chose fish dishes with Loch Duart Salmon and Classic Fish and Chips which were delivered by the effusive Martin, now in full flow.

Not a morsel was left on our plates and despite feeling extremely well fed, we decided to finish with a knicker blocker glory (remember those) and some selected ices. We skipped coffee and enjoyed a final glass of Cintila Rose which comes from Portugal to send us happily on our way.

Drinks menu.

Grill on New York St has long been a favourite with the LGBT community (including several other tables on our visit) especially with its adjacency to the Gay Village.

An added bonus for us was the 20% saving on our food bill with our Canal St Card.

Tick, tick, tick.
