Touring to five venues this Autumn, When Did You Stop Dancing is a true and relevant story told with warmth, charm and integrity. Performed by Rachel McBride, it is a show about female uprising, what it means to take a stand; and to stand together. The show visits The Edge Theatre on 11th October.

Rach will be re-telling the true story of the Dancing Plague of 1518, where one woman’s boogying led to hundreds of women taking to the streets. 500 years later, she wants to tell you in 2018 everybody is welcome on our streets, she spends most of her time feeling safe and that we don’t need a national campaign to tell a girl, that she can. But she said she’d tell you the truth. 

When Did You Stop Dancing explores the female relationship with public space, dancing and what women do with their bodies in 2018. It questions how we occupy space, how we can re-appropriate our bodies, and find pockets of release within the everyday. It’s about cheeky, gentle rebellion, peaceful protest. Not a dance show but an intimately staged one woman show, that may take audiences to some dark places but with tenderness and some truly, terrible jokes.

The show is created by What a Little Bird Told Me Theatre, a Manchester based company who are dedicated to bringing audiences more female representation. They do this by creating work that shares and celebrates female stories and characters that excite and interest them.
