Vertigo Theatre adapt their hit play 'NOIR' in a free audio drama

Multi Award Winning Vertigo Theatre Productions have found a creative way to not only entertain audiences in these unprecedented times, but hopefully raise money for Acting for Others in the UK and The Actors Fund in the US. The hit play Noir written by Craig Hepworth that premiered in Manchester in 2017 has been adapted in to a two hour audio play, and you can enjoy it for free

The entire original cast reunited to record the show over Zoom, with underscoring and sound effects added, Noir will transport you to 1940s New York, for a night of romance, desire, manipulation and murder.

Loosely inspired by a shocking true modern-day story, but with a killer new twist, Noir relocates it back to 1940s America.

Detective Sal Pelletier tells us the story of one of his most memorable cases. Veronica Smart is a beautiful 39-year-old woman married to her husband Cliff for 16 years, always wanting to be a star, she’s now grown tired of the marriage and wants out. Meeting a group of teenagers at the school she works sets in motion a plan that will include seduction, passion, lies and manipulation, and by the end nobody will be left unscathed as she spins her web without consequence.

Told in the style of Film Noir with a theatrical spin, this exciting new thriller takes the thrills of the stage play and brings it to a whole new medium.

Simply click the link below and enjoy the show. All we ask is that if you can, please donate to Acting for Others if you are from the UK or US listeners to The Actors Fund. These organisations are helping crew, creatives etc with essentials to live during the shut down.

Vertigo are also announcing today that once the cast can safely get together, they will be staging the follow up show Noir 2 – Welcome to the Club. A whole new story with all new characters, this time set in 1930s New York. Detective Sal Pelletier opens up his case file to tell the story of a club, the mob, a double cross and a New Years Eve to remember, Written and Directed by award winning Craig Hepworth, Noir 2 will open November 2020, either in front of a live audience, or a live streaming audience.

At present original Noir cast members Emma Morgan, Richard Allen, Stuart Meevens and Luke Richards will return in new roles for Noir 2. More casting and information will be coming soon.
