VBLA Launch Go Fund Me page

Following the recent announcements regarding the funding partnership for the safer-sex packs (Condom & Lube Scheme) and funding for George House Trust this week, Manchester’s Gay Village venues called an emergency meeting on Friday 6th of August.

It reads;

VILLAGE LICENSED BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

STATEMENT

Hello everyone and welcome to the VLBA GoFundMe Page.

Following the recent announcements regarding the funding partnership for safe sex packs and funding for George House Trust, Manchester's Gay Village venues called an emergency meeting on Friday 6th August.

In this meeting we discussed how we as a community can lend our help and support to these much-needed services and raise funds to continue the work in our Village and our city. As we have seen by the response on social media and recent press coverage, these projects are very close to all our hearts, not just within our Village community but worldwide. Having spoken to the LGBT Foundation and GHT, we have set a launch target of £100,000.

The Safe Sex Pack Project was set up in 1994 and has been the longest running free service in the world. With the money we hope to raise, 90,000 safe sex packs can be produced and distributed, facilitating a whole year's supply. It will also allow us to help continue the work of the GHT to fight to stop HIV stigma and offer support for those living with HIV.

Each venue will be making a contribution to this GoFundMe Page as we launch this community fundraiser and they will be holding fundraisers over the course of the end of 2021 and up to August 2022. We welcome you all to join us as we stand together to reach our £100k target.

We pledge 100% transparency on this page and will provide all confirmations of monies to both charities. If we go above and beyond this amount we will ask YOU where you would like to see this money go in support of other projects in and around Manchester's Gay Village.

Please donate what you can, every penny counts. TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER!
