‘Superbia Spotlights’: Artists sought for micro-commissions

They curate, fund, promote and support LGBTQ+ creativity as part of Manchester Pride’s commitment to the well-being and quality of life for the LGBTQ+ community in our city.

Superbia Spotlights is a new series highlighting the diversity of LGBTQ+ talent in Greater Manchester. Ten of our Spotlight pieces will be commissions of brand new work and we are inviting artists to submit proposals for three of these commissions.

Each commission includes a fee of £200, technical support and advice to help produce your work, and a wide audience across our Superbia and Manchester Pride platforms, including our fantastic media partner at Manchester’s Finest. The commission fees are made possible with generous public funding from Arts Council England.

We encourage applications from any LGBTQ+ identified artists who live in Greater Manchester, working in any practice.

We are particularly keen to support

LGBTQ+ artists who are based in Rochdale, Stockport and Wigan;

artists who are over 55 or under 25;

and artists who are people seeking refuge or asylum

Your work does not need to be digital but it should produce at least some content and imagery that we can write about and share with our audiences, e.g. if your project is based on letter-writing we would want to see images of the letters and hear the experiences of your participants.

There is an application form for submission below, or if you face any barriers to completing this form, we are happy to take audio proposals using voice memo or WhatsApp recordings. Please send your voice memo to engagement@manchesterpride.com

Applications will close at 5pm on Friday 10th July.

You can contact us with any queries about your ideas in advance of submitting your proposal. These should be sent to greg@manchesterpride.com  #SuperbiaSpotlights
