Shortlist announced for Northern Soul awards 2018
The awards, now in their second year, celebrate outstanding contributions to culture, arts and creative enterprise in the North. This year's event, sponsored by AKA North, will take place at Manchester Cathedral on 15th November.

Established in 2017 by former Times journalist Helen Nugent of online culture and enterprise magazine Northern Soul, the awards champion the work of organisations big and small, including cultural venues, festivals, food operators, galleries, museums, exhibitions and businesses that excite and influence Northern audiences, capture and promote Northern identity, and place the region in the national and international spotlight.
The shortlist features organisations and individuals from across the North of England including The Lowry, Liverpool Everyman, Z-Arts, Tyne & Wear Museums, The Civic in Barnsley, Big Issue North, Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre, N Brown Group, Just So Festival, Cosgrove Hall Films Archive, the Waterside, Royal Exchange, Grand Pacific and Worker Bee Markets.
Northern Soul is a popular online magazine dedicated to sharing culture and enterprise in the North of England. Written by Northern writers including national and regional journalists, arts professionals and practitioners, and award-winning writers, Northern Soul is widely read and well respected throughout the UK and internationally.
