Rainbow Planters for Gay Village

Rainbow Planters for Gay Village

Canal Street now has two big Rainbow Planters opposite the New Union and REM Bar. They are the start of a project by Friends of Manchester’s Gay Village.

We hope to install more as funding becomes available. The planters sport a rainbow flag design with the inclusive progress flash on the front. Thanks to the council, LGBT Foundation and local businesses for working with us to make this happen along with support from our local councillors.

The planters were designed, built and supplied by Tree Station and yes, plants will be added soon once the soil settles (there’s a lot of soil in them as we know having filled them with some of us attempting to look butch with spades).

Once we are allowed to we’ll have a proper event to welcome the planters to the Gay Village. In the meantime if you want to get involved with the FOMGV drop us a line on Facebook or Twitter.
