Queer Culture Questions: A monthly Salon with Monica Pearl

What are the crucial queer questions that we should be asking now?  What old ideas are still useful – and which do we need to painfully part with?

What are the ideas that matter in queer film, books, art and ideas now?

Come and let’s talk.

Each month Monica Pearl will facilitate a discussion around a particular question in queer culture. In this intimate and open gathering everyone is welcome to share ideas and explore possibilities, or to just sit back and listen.

Each salon will feature an invited guest to help expand our thinking on that month’s question.

Come with curiosity.

Check judgements and fixed ideas at the door.

Leave with new thoughts and questions.

Nibbles provided, bar available.

Second Thursday of the month.

All welcome.

Pronouns: who are they for?

Guest: Cheddar Gorgeous

Merriam Webster Dictionary‘s word of the year for 2019 is the personal pronoun “they.”

What’s the big deal about pronouns? What is at stake in getting them right – or wrong?

Are you a she/her, a he/him, or a they?

Is “they” only for the nonbinary?

Can pronouns be queer?

Come to Monica Pearl’s Cultureplex Salon series. We begin with pronouns.

Come discuss these and other vital (and sometimes stressful) questions around the topic of pronouns.
