Puppuccinos and pampering as Manchester’s Barkside heads for Kampus

Manchester’s pooches are in for a treat as The Barkside is set to open a boutique dog salon and lifestyle store at Kampus, the city’s rental garden neighbourhood.

It’ll be a one-stop-shop for city-dwelling dogs, with a grooming salon and shop stocking The Barkside’s signature street-fashion, their own brand of nutritious foods, luxury grooming products and quality accessories. It follows the Barkside’s monthly events at Kampus, that have seen residents in the pet-friendly apartments hang out together.

Furry clients will also be sampling the laid-back Kampus neighbourhood lifestyle, with doggy mud baths (a perfect de-shedding treatment) and frothy puppuccinos, so they don’t miss out on the café culture.

The Barkside’s first day care was set up back in 2013. Elkie, Leah and Lauren – along with their team – have  since gone from strength to the strength, opening a doggy day care, salon and shop on Travis St in Manchester and in Heaton Chapel, Stockport – with a lengthy waiting list from would-be clients.

The new Kampus store, opening onto the garden and in the historic listed Minto & Turner building, will be open seven days a week and cater to booming numbers of the city centre dog owners. Manchester is fast gaining a reputation as one of the nation’s most dog-friendly cities with pet-friendly homes for rent at Kampus.

They’re the latest independent venture set to join Kampus, the neighbourhood being developed by HBD and Capital&Centric. Manchester favourites Pollen bakery and General Stores are also confirmed, alongside the recently-opened Nell’s New York Pizza & Bar, wine bar Beeswing and recently-announced Cloudwater Brewery.
