Out and About Manchester launch

Out and About Manchester launch

Throughout the 1990s Stuart Linden Rhodes was leading a double life. During the day he was a teacher in the classroom. But as day turned to night Stuart was to be found behind his trusty camera, capturing the goings on in LGBTQ bars, pubs, and clubs across the north of England in Blackpool, Birmingham, Derby, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, York just to name a few.

Now, these images, which were lost for over thirty years, have been found, restored and are to be found in this handbook book featuring newly written contributions from Mel B, Angie Brown, Julian Clary, Hazell Dean, Nicki French, Paul O’Grady, Boy George, David Hoyle, Su Pollard, Heather Small, Denise Welch, Kelly Wilde and the brilliant clubbers and punters who filled the floors of queer venues across the north in the 1990s.

Join us for this truly special and free event at New York New York which will feature Stuart (@linden_archives) in conversation with BBC Radio Manchester's Emma Goswell (@emmagoswell) a 1990s setlist courtesy of the beautiful Hellikisto (@hellikisto) and the icon, the legend, Tracey Walsh (@TraceyNYNYMCR) overseeing proceedings.

All this and the chance to meet Stuart and a free drink upon arrival.

If you have preordered your book to pick up at the Manchester launch, then we can't wait to give it you. If you haven't preordered a copy there will be a strictly limited number of books as well as the special edition zine, Linden in London, available to buy but please bring cash!
