LGBT History Month items
Salford Pride's LGBT+ History Month Project:
Salford Pride are looking to have 3-4 short video interviews from LGBT+ people telling their stories of their LGBT+ History, including their experiences, marches, art, school - anything!
They aim to commemorate and celebrate LGBT+ History and LGBT+ culture, educate people on the LGBT+ movement and share local people's stories of what is was like being an LGBT+ person during different decades of LGBT+ history by:
Celebrating LGBT+ History and showcase how are the LGBT+ movement has come.
Sharing stories of local LGBT+ people ad organisation's experiences throughout their lives.
Educating people on key LGBT+ moments in time to keep our history alive and continue the fight.
The project can be filmed between now and mid February with the podcast being released in the third or fourth week of February. Please contact ricki@salfordpride.co.uk if you would like to be involved.
LGBT+ History Month in Stockport 2021 - all virtual, all-singing, all-dancing 28 days of virtual fun and learning.
8 local organisations (Forward, SMBC Libraries, People Like Us Stockport, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, Stockport Pride, Healthwatch Stockport, The Proud Trust, NEXUS and Nationwide) have come together to bring you a month of festivities based on the theme of Body, Mind, Spirit.
Activities include: a live cupcake bake-off, chemistry experiments, yoga, boxing, plastic recycling workshops, mindfulness, intersectional discussions on faith, age, gender, race, disability & sexuality, comedy, poetry open mic night, drag queen bingo, youth talent show, resilience workshop and lots more!
Goody bags will be available from selected COVID-secure locations across the borough and they will contain; a bathbomb & Skittles (for an experiment), cupcake kit (for live baking), Let's End Hate Crime resources, wellbeing factsheet and activity suggestions, wellbeing calendar, programme of events and more...
LGBT+ History Month's own motto is "claim our past, celebrate our present and create our future". We hope that every conversation that is held during the month is used as a catalyst for further work and acceptance.
We feel that it is important now, more than ever, to bring together the LGBTQ+ community and our allies - to show that we care and that we are stronger together.
