Kelloggs debuts drag queens over a bowl of corn flakes
Vivienne Lynsey and Miss Blair, from Manchester, were handpicked for one of eight slots in the cereal giant’s latest campaign after proving they were among Corn Flakes biggest fans.
For the last 12months Kellogg’s has been asking the nation how they eat their Corn Flakes, now they want to know when. Whether it’s in the mornings or before bed, the company took to social media and received a passionate response from cereal super fans.
The drag act were whittled down from hundreds of applicants as part of a rigorous casting call. Amusingly the glamourous pair were selected for passionately disagreeing on the best time to eat their Corn Flakes
Speaking about her appearance in the new Kellogg’s advert, Vivienne described what it feels like to be one of the first drag queens to work with the brand in the UK and Ireland.
She said: “It’s really important brands are representative of all sexuality and gender.
“Gender is fluid, it is so much more than being a man and being a woman and I think it is fantastic Kellogg’s is being inclusive – it’s not every day you get to be in a Corn Flakes advert.”
Vivienne Lynsey, who favours his Corn Flakes as a snack he gets in from a night out, added: “It’s great to see current TV shows, such as Celebrity Big Brother, really opening up the discussion around gender – it’s come along away. It is great to get Viv and Miss Blair out there for the nation to see.”
The ad campaign will feature a cast of eight real families, friends and work colleagues –all genuine fans – talking about their when to eat the ‘perfect bowl’ of Corn Flakes – and debuted last month.
The decision to launch the 12 month campaign comes as a natural progression of the 2017 debate, when the cereal giant asked genuine fans; ‘what’s your perfect bowl?’
Last year’s campaign launched after a six year break in commercial advertising for the breakfast cereal – and even had Father Christmas telling the nation how he eats his Corn Flakes.
A spokesperson from Kellogg’s, said: “We have had great fun opening up the Corn Flakes debate and now we want to take it a step further, our cast remind people what they love about this iconic cereal and how it doesn’t just have to be enjoyed at breakfast.
“We were really pleased to have Vivienne and Miss Blair involved in the campaign, we knew from their audition videos they would bring great humour to the advert.”
