Inkandescent deadline approaches

Inkandescent deadline approaches

Inkandescent was set up in 2016 by Justin David and Nathan Evans with a commitment to voices underrepresented in mainstream publishing. They discover and celebrate original and diverse writing that challenges the status quo—that includes writers who are LGBTQ+, BAME and those who identify as working-class. They have some stonkingly good books.

For their biggest project to date, Mainstream, Inkandescent have teamed up with UNBOUND, who will be assisting them with the fundraising. Their crowdfunding campaign will begin in September. They have also partnered with SPREAD THE WORD, who are helping them seek out the most exciting new talent.

Are you an emerging talent who would like to see your fiction published alongside their collection of established authors? The closing date for writers is July 31st, 2020.

Mainstream will bring thirty authors in from the margins to occupy centre-page. Queer storytellers. Working class wordsmiths. Chroniclers of colour. Writers whose life experiences give unique perspectives on universal challenges, whose voices must be heard. And read.

The book will be jam-packed with LGBTQ+ talent, including many illustrious names from the literary community like Golnoosh Nour, James Maker, Jonathan Kemp, Julia Bell, Keith Jarrett, Kerry Hudson, Leone Ross, Juliet Jacques, Neil Bartlett, Neil McKenna, Paul McVeigh and Philip Ridley.

Inkandescent are also looking for exceptional novellas and short novels for their forthcoming publishing slate. They also want to bring their existing books to new audiences. So, whether you’re a reader or a writer, sign up to their mailing list to stay informed about new releases, book launches, offers and new projects via the link below.
