GM COVID-19 Response Committee

As the world continues to fight COVID-19 we, as a community need to carry on doing our part to support other members within OUR community to Keep Safe and support each other.

Obviously the Coronavirus is having a major impact on all of our daily lives, it would be really useful to find out if there are any particular issues or risks specific to your organisation that I can feed back to The  Mayor of Greater Manchester and to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

I want to reach out to any individuals, groups, charities, organisations – Everybody who receives this, to offer whatever help, support, knowledge I have including signposting to other organisations to help us all get through these unprecedented times. It would be really helpful if you could share any activity or initiatives that you are aware of that are working to mitigate any issues that are having an impact within the LGBTQ+ Community.

The GMCA have established a GM COVID-19 Response Committee, and there are a number of sub-groups looking at specific issues, including support needs for vulnerable people, especially the homeless and those facing challenges around accessing food and medicine. They are compiling a list of ways that COVID-19 is affecting specific communities (e.g. BAME, disabled, faith, LGBTQ+, older and young people, women, etc), as well as this, there are opportunities and offers of support. I can’t promise that they can tackle everything, but I will feed the issues through to the committee, so they can at least be on the radar.
