Fabaret returns for 2021

Fabaret returns for 2021

Fabaret returns (Sat 17 July), curated by Greg Thorpe, supported by Superbia (Manchester Pride), with a celebratory showcase of some of Manchester’s finest LGBTQ+ artists including drag legend Cheddar Gorgeous, dancer and choreographer Jason Andrew Guest, performance duo Tom Yum Sim and spoken word artist Taylor Le Fin.

Join Cheddar Gorgeous and Laurie for the cabaret-tinged, rose-tinted look-back at lockdown that nobody asked for! Featuring original songs, hi-jinks and absolutely NO dancing!

A lyrical tragicomedy of A Different Class! Dragged up, poor and queer in a 90's Northern Town, Taylor Le Fin takes us on a tour of Misshapes, abandoned shopping trolleys, regrettable perms, and being saved by "Jarvis bloody Cocker!" Live music, spoken word, comedy and Britpop nostalgia, blends with heart-aching accounts of self-discovery, survival, acceptance and hope. An uncommon insight into where transmasculinity, poverty & class meet.

TomYumSim Theatre present a gender-bending, radical musical performance installation, combining live vocals, audience singalong ‘Fabaoke’ (Karaoke, but bent!) and inflatable puppet hands (yes, it’s happening). Performed by queer punk party starters Tom Halls and Simone French. A celebration of music, queer community and the power of touch after a year of being apart

A showcase of QTIPOC Excellence from vocalist, dancer, choreographer and creative powerhouse Jason Andrew Guest, celebrating Black Queer artists, musicians, and icons through vocal house and high fashion. Expect Diva star quality and iconic fashion moments inspired by Diana Ross, Grace Jones, RuPaul, Naomi Campbell, Tyra, Naomi Sims and more.

All Festival Square events are free.
