The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker

It may have been a cold November evening yesterday in Manchester but inside the Opera House Northern Ballet gave the audience just what it had come to see!

The Nutcracker is an essential Christmas 'must have' and the full house on the opening night were treated to a warm magical interpretation of the well loved story. The ingenious set was constantly giving up surprises as we moved from an Edwardian house to battlefield and on to a snow covered landscape.

Then in act two we were transported to outer space watching the world spin away from us. And all of this happening to some wonderful dancing to the music of Tchaikovsky. It's no wonder the audience gave the company a great Manchester ovation at the end of the evening.

I came away feeling Christmas is really upon us!!

The Nutcracker, at The Palace Theatre, Manchester, runs until 27 November.
