Mica Paris
Forget programmes like BGT and The Voice. The Band on the Wall last night delivered a 'Masterclass' courtesy of the timeless and emphatic Mica Paris
A packed venue, full it has to be said, with devotees, helped create a wonderful atmosphere even before her arrival on stage. One surprise to us,was the number of LGBT fans in the audience which is always guaranteed to boost the 'feel' of the venue.
Supported by just 3 superb musicians,Mica wowed us with a mix of her own back catelogue, together with several cover versions.Highlights included her tribute to Etta James',with 'At Last. A great version of James Morrisons 'Baby Come Back Now' followed quickly, together with Al Green' 'Lets Stay Together'.
After all these years her voice seems more distinct and as strong as its ever been, demonstrated with 'As Dreamers Do' and of course, the song that started it all off for her(and for us)'One Temptation'.
Many of the audience, ourselves included, have been on this 25 year journey with her and we were all truly satisfied with every aspect of this very rare concert perfomance.
We also got great value for money as she performed for well over 2 and a half hours with one short break.
Check out her impressive career here.
