Dick Whittington at Stockport Plaza

Dick Whittington at Stockport Plaza

It’s behind you!!! Panto is back and in the heart of Stockport, with Dick Wittington and his Cat.

Everyone knows a fairy tale story, where the fresh-faced young adventurer finds love but falls foul of the villain. Of course, there’s a Villain who has to be a rat for the cat to chase. Rat is played by Brian Capron, who is Coronation Street Super Villain and Dick Wittington’s arch enemy.

Dick moves to London and wants to make it big and lands a job with Aldermans stores. Dick sees the young woman, who is the daughter of Alderman, and falls in love. How purrfect, but Rat has alternative plans.

Rat gets Dick sacked, but it’s not over. Dick gets press-ganged into service with the Navy. What a rotten turn, but maybe it works out for Dick and he gets his fairy tale ending.

It’s not Panto without the Dame, and Dame Sarah Suet does not disappoint by creating the greatest whoops of the night who is played by Richard Aucott.

Dick Wittington is a must see family Panto in the heart of Stockport, playing at the Plaza, in the wonderfully restored art deco theatre with one extraordinary Organ.
