Deacon Blue are back

Deacon Blue are back

If you can’t find the Apollo this morning look half way down Stockport Road because Deacon Blue were back in town last night and the place was bouncing!!!

Back to their absolute best they had the crowd on their feet the whole time as they treated us to a fabulous mix of the old loved tunes mixed with the new ones equally as good with Deacon Blue stamped all over them!

The set list was a mix of tunes from their album Hipster – Here I am in London Town – The Hipsters balanced with the much loved Love & Regrets – Real Gone Kid – Wages Day – When Will You – Fergus and the all time classic Dignity which brought the house down with the crowd singing it as the band  looked on.   The only disappointment with the running order was no Chocolate Girl or Raintown – but you can’t have everything and the new stuff is just as good and deserves to be heard!  They finished with the classic Dylan ‘Forever Young’ which just about sums Deacon Blue and their fans perfectly!

I saw them on their farewell tour in 1994 at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool and they were fantastic and I’m pleased to say that here 17 years on they are just as brilliant and will hopefully be around for many more years.  All the new band wannabe’s really should check out these guys and see how it should be done – absolute masters at their craft!

If you didn’t see them you missed a treat; they’re on at Liverpool Arena on 20th October do everything in your power to get tickets!!
