Castle Crusaders

Castle Crusaders

Had enough of lockdown? Tired of the off the shelf virtual experiences? We have may found the thing for you!

We love escape rooms - we’ve enjoyed lots over the last few years and these past few months we have navigated the world of virtual escape rooms, so the chance of experiencing Castle Crusaders was one we couldn’t resist, and we were not disappointed. This adventure is very different to what we have previously experienced as it offers personalisation and a human touch in a virtual world.

Castle Crusaders definitely offers an experience of escape rooms meets crystal maze. Our guide, Jackson Jacobe, welcomed us and exuded so much confidence and flare that he would certainly give Richard O’Brien a run for his money. More importantly he felt like one of the gang!

First things first, we had to select a team captain and a team name – we went with “Fruit and Nuts” …. and we were off!! 16 games that tapped into our brain power, agile thinking, secret talents and activities that got us out of the “zoom chair”. As you unlock each quadrant of the castle you will be presented with 4 games. Each game you win you'll receive a letter to the final passcode to, hopefully, lower the drawbridge and to freedom!

There may be moments when you regret saying yes to the activity, but the rest of the team will enjoy your participation and Jackson is there to guide you through and make you feel at ease. The whole experience was great to play with friends, the adventure has games to suit all abilities and most importantly it’s live. Did we succeed without clues? No – the game is challenging, and Jackson had to give us a couple of pointers. However, we did complete our escape in an hour and 10 mins and really enjoyed the “watch this space” moment at the end.

What makes this experience is the use of the navigator, creating live interaction that creates a personalised experience for you and your team. It is an excellent example of how these genres of games have evolved in the digital sphere. It’s great news for gamers, families and friends and all those wanting a more personalised adventure in this space.

Castle Crusaders may not be the cheapest of online experiences, but it isn’t going to break the bank and if you are flexible with your dates and times you can find a time to suit every budget. The important thing to remember here is that is not a download and play in your own time. The live facilitation adds personalisation and much value to this experience and actually makes you feel you got more than your money’s worth.

Our verdict – 5 stars for an original, challenging and fun experience.

Highly recommended Dean and Garry Thomas-Lowde.
