Lord of the Dance was created by Michael Flatley and first debuted in 1996 and since then it has gone to achieve worldwide acclaim. I am confident that every positive word and compliment has already been paid to this show by far more seasoned reviewers than myself but I’ll do my best to add a few of my own.

For those who don’t know Lord of the Dance follows the story of Little Spirit who dreams of good verses evil. The Lord of the Dance represents all that is good whilst the Dark Lord is a warlord who seeks to conquer Planet Ireland and turn the Spirits dream into a nightmare.
The story is told through dance, song and musical talent. It is a spectacular feast for the senses with stunning footwork and vocals throughout. The work of the performers stand as a towering triumph of talent and dedication to their craft – it’s stunning and mesmerising in every way.
The lead role is performed by Matthew Smith – a man who has been involved with LOTD since he was 17 years old and debuted as ‘the Lord’ in 2011. He is utterly impeccable – he and his entire crew are a treat for the eyes. As well as being superb on his feet he’s gorgeous.
That’s true of the entire cast, the men and women of this show are beautiful on the eye aswell as supremely talented. Seeing people with this level of talent actually makes you question your life choices!
The vocal performance of Celyn Cartwright was also an absolute joy. The audience was in awe as she helped tell the story through song. The violinist were incredible. I honestly can’t say enough positive things about what we all saw on stage last evening.
The Manchester audience utterly lapped it up. Even after the very final dance there were still shouts for more and we concurred. Personally,I could happily go back and be transported into that word of Irish dancing! We have to thank Michael Flatley for revolutionising what dance can be and this new cast are a tour de force.
