Your hairdresser or your partner

Your hairdresser or your partner

ROSES ARE RED, VIOLETS ARE BLUE, I LOVE MY HAIRDRESSER MORE THAN YOU!

Women are more likely to stay faithful longer to their hairdresser than their lover, according to a new surevey by celebrity hair stylist James Roberts Hair and Beauty.

The Manchester-based salon polled its customers in a Valentine’s* love survey which revealed the bald truth that on average we will stay with the same hair stylist for eight years and our partners for just three years or less.

And in one of the cruellest blows, the respondents said they felt more guilty going to a different hairdresser than they did about cheating on their significant other.

In fact, they admitted to straying from the marital bed twice in the course of a relationship whilst remaining faithful to their hairdresser for up to eight years.

“We thought it would be a bit of fun to poll our clients and find out what they thought of us and what they thought of their other halves,” said 33-year-old James who owns the salon just off Deansgate in Manchester City Centre.

“We knew our customers were loyal but we were amazed when we saw how they put us head and shoulders above their lovers! It just goes to show romance can be ‘hair’ today and gone tomorrow, whereas your stylist is for life.”

And it seems that women find it harder to dump their hairdresser than they do their lover, with 68% saying they stick with the cut and blows of their stylist for two years longer than they would a disappointing partner, even if they weren’t happy with their hair.

Just under a third admitted sneaking to a different stylist and then avoiding their old hairdresser by not returning calls and walking head down passed their former salon.

But it seems the majority of those who strayed to other cutters, always come back.

“I have clients who have been with me ever since I started and have followed me to all my different salons. I think there is a special bond between a hairdresser and their clients and in some cases it can be stronger than their romantic relationships,” added James.

James Roberts Hair and Beauty is celebrating its seventh anniversary and has an unrivalled reputation in the hair and beauty industry. The creative team have been appointed by L’Oreal to teach their skills to other hairdressers in the region and were the stylists behind many of the stars at the recent National Television Awards.

With a client list that includes business leaders, celebrities and fashionistas, James Roberts, the 33-year-old owner credits their success on being a cut above  other salons when it comes to creating new looks.

“We create the trends and I believe that’s a large part of why we are head and shoulders above other salons in the region,” said James.

“We have the best talent and invest in their training, which is why we’re in demand for everything from magazine shoots to filming as well as just making sure our customers turn heads wherever they go.”

The St Mary’s Street salon doubled in size this time last year when it launched a beauty salon, offering quick fix treatments from just £10, including everything from tans, manicures, pedicures to waxing and threading.

And for those who want to get ahead this Valentine’s Day and Leap Year they are offering half price Brazillian and Hollywood waxing and spray tans.

They are also doing ‘in the city manicures’ for £5 for anyone who books the above and wants to get their ring finger ready. The offer runs until February 29.
