Womens Comedy dates

The first ever UK Women in Comedy Festival will be held across Greater Manchester from October 1st until 27th 2013
 
The festival is a cross-collaboration between the growing number of women’s comedy producers, performers and supporters, spearheaded by Hazel O’Keefe founder of Laughing Cows Comedy. Celebrating all things funny and female across a variety of platforms including live performances, comedy theatre, spoken word, book readings, sketch, improvisation, photography, workshops and debates.

Now a four week event, the festival catalyst, Hazel O'Keefe, says 'originally we were planning a week of events but the demand even this early had led us to expand the festival across the whole month and we currently have over one hundred shows'.
 
Janice Connolly who is well known for her character Barbara Nice and for playing Holy Mary in Phoenix Nights says 'It's really wonderful that the festival is happening in Manchester … the line up represents the wealth of female comedic talent that is sweeping the nation. A proper treat for all comedy lovers!'
 
Over one hundred acts quoted as a ’terrific roster of stand up' by The Independent are already confirmed to take part at venues such as The Comedy Store, The Contact Theatre, The Dancehouse Theatre, The Frog and Bucket and The Lowry includes:
 
Ava Vidal who has appeared on 'Michael McIntyres Road Show' and 'Mock the Week'
 
Gina Yashere who may be best know for appearing in the 'Lenny Henry Show' and 'Live at the Apollo'
 
Susan Harrison and Victoria Cook from 'DNN' on CBBC,
 
Perrier award nominee, Jo Neary who has appeared in Johnny Vegas's 'Ideal', 'Miranda' and 'That Mitchell and Webb Look'

Lucy Porter as seen on 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' and 'Have I Got News for You.'
 
Luisa Omeilan known for her critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe show 'What Would Beyonce Do?'
 
AWA The Arts and Culture Award and semi finalist in 'Last Comic Standing' Shazia Mirza,
 
and Zoe Lyons who’s TV credits include 'The Wright Stuff' and 'Dave's One Night Stand'
