Tooty Booty raises £2,000 for the George House Trust!

Last Sunday (2nd December 2012) saw the eagerly anticipated return of one of the Gay Village’s biggest World Aids Day fundraising events.
Tooty Booty, an annual event now in its 6th year and dedicated to raising awareness and funds for The George House Trust charity took place at Cruz 101 in Manchester and saw twelve venues from across the LGBT scene come together to compete for the coveted title.

Each venue chose a member of their team to represent them in a fun and cheeky night hoping to raise much needed money to support gay men living with HIV in Manchester.
With over 350 people attending Cruz 101 on a cold and rainy night, they watched as the bar staff from the village venues strutted their stuff on stage, flaunting their ‘Tooty Booty’ on stage in two rounds,  for votes in order to win various accolades including the title of ‘Tooty Booty of the Year’.
Hosted by Cruz 101’s Miss Cara, the extremely professional production went without a hitch and saw four venues pick up a trophy in the various categories.  Declan Crossley from G-A-Y Manchester won the Facebook ‘Likes’ Award, Fahad Alvi from The Molly House won the Crowd Award, Jay O’Connor from Crunch Bar won the Text Donation Award and the overall Tooty Booty of the Year Award went to Alexander Cavan representing Cruz 101.

The George House Trust said “The money raised from Tooty Booty will provide vital support directly to people living with HIV in the North West. George House Trust is delighted that so many people have come together from Manchester's Gay Village to support our cause. We feel really humble at how much support this event has received and would like to thank the organisers, the people who donated through text votes and on the night, the bars involved and especially the contestants for baring their butts for a really great cause.”

Tooty Booty of course also brings together several businesses through sponsorship to help make the event happen.  Once again, award-winning company Pants Menswear sponsored the Underwear Round.  Pure Tanning on Bloom Street, Basement Sauna in the Northern Quarter, Phil Bearman Media and Manchester’s very own Gaydio 88.4fm all came on board to support the event.

The event raised an amazing £2000 for The George House Trust through text donations via JustGiving.com, donations from the door, donations from the George House Trust stall in the club on the night and a donation from Cruz 101.

Tooty Booty will return again next year not only for the annual World Aids Day special on Sunday 1st December 2013 but for a series of alternative events including a Sporting special and a Manchester Pride special.  So look out for more information on these coming your way very soon.
