Timothy West and Prunella Scales

Timothy West and Prunella Scales

We all had a great afternoon recently filming on Canal Street with Timothy West and Prunella Scales for the next series of Great Canal Journeys.

Organised by Canal St Online and shot by the film company Spungold TV for Channel 4 as part of the next series, the couple, one of the most enduring in show business, joined Carl Austin- Behan and local historian Michala Hulme to chat about the Gay Village, its History and its future with the two large new developments rising up in the background.

Tim and Pru have been hailed as groundbreakers, for their inclusion of Pru's Dementia in the 8 series so far and frequently make reference during the programmes to her condition and how it is affecting her on a daily basis and its impact on the way forward.

Many of you readers out there, can associate with Dementia and viewers will have seen moments on their Great Canal Journeys Channel 4 series, where Prunella loses clarity, which has clearly struck a chord with many.

Indeed several people whilst filming, stopped to compliment them both on previous programmes and the handling of the sensitive issue.

No firm date for transmission has been set, but we all look forward to watching them on their memorable visit to our wonderful, historical Street.
