The Largest LGBTQ Street Art in the UK
The largest LGBTQ piece of street art in the UK and possibly Europe will tower within the Gay Village in Manchester. Graffiti Street Artists Aylo (Hayley Garner) and Cbloxx (Joy Gilleard) are bringing the four winning designs from the Queerchester fundraising initiative to life.
The Molly House on Richmond Street in the Gay Village will look like never before, bringing the winner of the Queerchester competition, Glenn Jones with Lauren Jo Kelly, Adam Pryce and Mark Wallis into one epic montage.
Adam Prince, the organiser of Queerchester set up the August Arts Trail as just and idea and the fundraising from the community has enabled the Molly House Street Art to come to fruition.
After 29 entries, over 950 votes online, 7 judges at one large event hosted by comedian Kate McCabe, four winners were announced and the overall winner Glenn Jones merged their designs and at last the project began last weekend.
Paul Duffy, manager of the Molly House says "I am overjoyed to see the piece come to life. From entries on a single page, this idea has come a long way and I am proud to be a part of it and contribute towards this project. To be the first original piece of Street Art in the Gay Village and on this scale is amazing for the Molly House and the area".
